Summary

  • POSITION SUMMARY
    • Responsible for performing diagnostic imaging exams requested by providers while following all relevant guidelines for patient safety.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
    • Patient Care/Imaging:
      • Takes radiographs following established procedures for patient care and safety including:
        • Follows manufacturer guidelines for technical factors and employs ALARA techniques while taking radiographic images
        • Optimal patient preparation and positioning
        • Consistent and accurate labeling of images per department protocol
      • Reviews images, makes quality adjustments,  and makes images available to providers for review on computer system
      • Uses a variety of radiation protection, shielding for patients and monitoring materials for staff including wearing badges and maintaining required documentation for compliance purposes
      • Based on location assigned, may operate C-Arm for fluoroscopy procedures in office setting; maintaining sterile field, and practicing proper radiation safety techniques. 
    • Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
      • Ensures equipment is in working order and completes/maintains QA records as required.
      • Performs troubleshooting on radiography equipment/software and contacts service providers when problems require a service call
    • Support Efficient Workflow:
      • Escorts patients to and from exam and x-ray room.
      • Accurately inputs orders, charges or other information required in EMR and processes related documentation to facilitate patient flow through clinic.
      • Imaging rooms are cleaned and stocked with necessary supplies and communicates supply needs as needed
    • Initiative:
      • Seeks out assignments, added duties, or opportunities to learn when assigned work is complete, as patient census or workload permits, or to otherwise fill down time productively.
      • Proposes new ideas, makes suggestions, and seeks opportunities to improve processes or workflow through appropriate channels
      • Attempts to problem solve when assigned work is disrupted, equipment is down, etc. before involving supervisor.

      • Willingly provides coverage, volunteers assistance, and maintains workflows within department as needed without direct instruction/supervision.

      • Works to solve problems and address conflicts with appropriate person directly before involving leadership or uninvolved peers.
      • Is considerate of others in the work environment with regard to taking breaks or meal periods, use of computer and phone, noise level in the department, etc.
  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
    • Policies and Procedures
      • Knows and complies with policies and procedures as enumerated in the Orthopedic One Employee Handbook and policies and procedures documents.
      • Provides assistance and support to leadership in implementing policies and procedures as necessary.
      • Actively participates in training, and conducting day to day work activity by adhering to all policies and procedures as enumerated in compliance and risk management programs.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education, Experience, Certification and Licensure Requirements:
      • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program and holds current Ohio license and ARRT certification. Must maintain current CPR/AED certification.
